Soooo, back in Dec. 2012 I decided to go for a trail run. My first trail run since July of 2012, and thinking that I could keep the same pace as running on the road I pulled my achilles while I try to complete a 7 miler in the Phoenix desert. Fast forward a few weeks, and pain is still there. Decided it’s time to see a doctor since I basically blew my entire 3 week winter break injured and with every passing day injured, kept me from marathon training.
Received a doctor’s referral to attend physical therapy. Today Jan. 14th was my first physical therapy session for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, I’m out of the running for the RnR Arizona full marathon Jan. 20th.
Lessons learned: 1) don’t try to be a badass on unknown terrain. 2) don’t try anything new just a few weeks before a race 3) rest 4) don’t wait so long to see a doctor if you really need to.
